Pierce City Families,
This will be our primary information resource regarding all COVID-19 operations. As updates are made, we will summarize those updates and will continue to send notifications as appropriate.
The purpose of this data is to provide Eagle families and staff with a transparent summary of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in the District. This page will be updated regularly when we are notified of an
active case. The School District is reporting cases that are directly related to the school, not the community as a whole. County information is available through the Barry, Newton, and Lawrence County Health Departments.
Pierce City has 91employees and approximately 700 students preschool-grade 12.
A COVID-19 Positive Case indicates that the person has been tested and received a report confirming that they have COVID-19. These individuals will be Isolated by the County Health Department and will have to complete this isolation period before they can return to school.
If a person is in Quarantine, that does not mean they have had a positive COVID-19 test. Quarantine is the practice of separating individuals who have had close contact with someone with COVID-19. Quarantine reduces the risk of transmission if an individual is later found to have COVID-19.
As we are made aware of a positive COVID-19 case, we will work with the County Health Departments to conduct contact tracing. Contact tracing is the process of identifying close contacts, or individuals that have been within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or longer within 2 days to a person with a confirmed positive case. Due to Pierce City Schools NOT having a mask mandate, we are required to follow the 14 day quarantine timeline and cannot utilize the modified quarantine per the County Health Departments.
As we work to keep students and staff safe during this pandemic, due to privacy requirements, we cannot release specific information regarding health details of staff and students.
